THE CHALLENGE
The district’s website had grown over time into a large collection of pages, links, and information that was difficult to navigate and inconsistent across schools. Families and community members often had to know where information lived before they could find it.
The goal wasn’t simply to redesign the website. It was to create a clearer, more consistent digital experience that reflected the district’s identity and made important information easier to access.
"The real challenge wasn’t technology. It was organizing information around what people actually needed."

The previous website had become cluttered and difficult to navigate.

FROM BEFORE TO AFTER

CLEARER NAVIGATION

Information grouped around what families and visitors need.
CONSISTENT BRANDING
Unified look and messaging across district and school sites.
MOBILE-FRIENDLY EXPERIENCE
A modern experience across all devices.
START WITH THE USER
Rather than organizing the website around how the district operates internally, I focused on how families, students, staff, and community members actually look for information. That meant simplifying navigation, reducing duplication, creating clearer page structures, and establishing consistent naming and visual patterns across district and school websites.
Staff feedback also revealed an opportunity to rethink what information belonged on the public-facing website. I created a secure Staff Intranet using Google Sites, moving staff-only resources into one centralized location. This reduced clutter on the public website while giving employees a more organized, dedicated space for the information and resources they use every day.
Building the intranet separately from the district's website platform also created a more sustainable long-term solution. Because it is not tied to the public website's content management system, the Staff Intranet can remain in place through future website redesigns or platform changes—reducing duplication of work and making future transitions easier.

THE RESULT
~ $20K
Approximate contract savings through vendor negotiations.
DISTRICTWIDE
A more consistent digital presence across schools
MOBILE-FIRST
Improved experience across devices.
CENTRALIZED
Clearer access to family and community information.
The result was more than a website. It created a stronger digital foundation for district communications—one that can evolve with changing needs, new programs, and the way families increasingly interact online.
